Lay Community of St. Benedict - Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina means Divine Reading. - God reads us and we read God.
So Lectio Divina is the search for God in his written Word. We believe that the Bible is the inspired WOrd of God and when we read the Bible we encounter the Living Word and our Living Lord. So the Bible is our text. We invite the Holy Spirit to guide us in our reading, praying meditating and contemplating.

This workshop, led by members of the Lay Community of St. Benedict, will provide an introduction to Lectio Divina. We will tell you something about ourselves, explain why Lectio Divina is a Benedictine charism and give you a taster, to help you get started, or deepen your experience, with this ancient Spirit-filled form of prayer.

Are you allowing your children to run free. Do your children suffer from peer pressure, Gang culture, drugs, drink, abuse, depression and lots more.

In today's society our young people seem to be lost. We cannot promise you answers but we can promise you that you will find some answers, that God will guide you and that you will have hope at the end. Do not give up.

The next Generation are our future.

Come and listen to some of the young people's view of why some young people are loosing there way.

Ros Powell - 3 Workshops
1. 'On Fire for God'
John answered, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. (Luke 3:16) Our God is a consuming fire, we receive his fire when we get baptised in the Holy Spirit. The tongues of fire which fell at Pentecost were a sign of the Holy Spirit empowering his disciples to be his witnesses. Don't let your flame go out -the Lord seeks to fan into flames the fire you received through the laying on of hands, and to send you out to light fires in others.

2. 'Moving in the gifts of the Holy Spirit'
Now about spiritual gifts (the special endowment of super natural energy) brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant. (1 Corinthians 12:1 - The Amplified Bible). We will look at the many gifts that the Holy Spirit gives freely, and examine the charismatic gifts of service especially the gifts of prophecy, the word of knowledge and the gift of discernment. In this workshop you will be encouraged to use your gifts, and begin to learn how God can use you for others.

3. 'Praying for the unborn'
Psalm 139 (love before birth)
For you created my inmost being;
You knit me together in my mother's womb.
My frame was not hidden from you
When I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body

In this workshop you will learn how to make a difference as you pray and warfare for Gods precious babies. It has been my awesome privilege to be Spiritual Director for 'Precious life' (largest pro life group in Northern Ireland) since 2002. God's loving involvement with our lives starts long before birth.
Are you called to pray and intercede for the unborn?
Through the power of prayer we see many pro-life miracles unfold before our eyes.
God is looking for 'Prayer Warriors' with a passion for the unborn.

James Hastings
James writes for a number of Christian newspapers, including the Catholic Times each week. He has also worked on the Sunday Express, News of the World, Sunday Mirror and others while living in Scotland. He now lives in Somerset. He will speak about how he believes it is vital for Christians to engage with the media, both secular and Christian, and to use it as a means of evangelisation. The churches in general, receive either minimal or negative coverage in the secular world - how can that be changed?
