Myles Dempsey

Myles’ vision from God for New Dawn is to bring together all the riches of the Catholic Faith. He comments, “I want the beauty of the Church to be seen in all her splendour; the Church with all its lights on and all its aspects celebrated – the charismatic, the liturgical, the Marian, the Eucharistic, the Sacramental, the Mystical – and for the whole family to be there.”

“For me New Dawn is a foretaste of what a charismatic village might be with its own life and identity, where people of all ages can relate to each other in love and where the structure facilitates the Kingdom of God and can be made visible in the lives of people. It’s an embodiment of the vision of Zechariah 8:4-7. ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts; old men men and women, each with staff in hand because of old age, shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem. The city shall be filled with boys and girls playing in her streets. Thus says the Lord of hosts. Even if this should seem impossible in the eyes of the remnant of this people, shall it in those days be impossible in my eyes also, says the Lord of hosts?'”

“I am convinced that in the near future we are going to see the Lord acting in a much more remarkable way – that something new is coming. I relate this to a word I received in 1973 soon after I first came into Charismatic Renewal. I was marvelling at what I saw God doing and I felt him say ‘You will see the day when I will bring people tumbling in to my Church’. I think we are going through a time of cleansing and purification at the moment, like Gideon’s army. But this is so we will be able to receive a much more mighty grace. I feel we must get new wineskins ready for this – get the right structures in place.”
